A bird's-eye view
A bird's-eye view of Sacred Scripture. The largest native bird of prey in Australia, my favourite from childhood, is the Wedge Tailed Eagle. God endowed it with unique eyesight, so that it is thought to have the highest visual acuity of any land animal (The Science of Birds), and it has been tracked soaring at mind-boggling altitudes of up to 6.5 kilometres, enjoying unchallenged views of the landscape below. This is what cinematographers call the God's-eye, or bird's-eye view. They borrow the eagle's perspective for their motion pictures, pulling viewers skywards to enable them to make better judgments about what they see.
Accordingly, might it not be the right view to take of God’s story, the Bible, the history of everything that there is and will be? The smorgasbord approach to Bible study and teaching leaves us biblically illiterate and spiritually unfed, and unsatisfied.
So, my self-appointed task in this eBook is to take a God's-eye, or bird's-eye view of the biblical text. Interestingly, what I have found is that ‘king' and ‘kingdom’ are key themes that unite the structure of God's wonderful story.
Holy Land: Holy Bible
Holy Land: Holy Bible. This is a shorthand way of saying that Israel’s insignificant size is a whole lot less than its theological significance, which is reflected in its holy landscapes. Unquestionably, to explore them is to magnify the Bible, giving it an entirely fresh, and up-to-date perspective. That is, to understand the ‘what’ of the Bible, you must also know the ‘where’. To do so gives you a step-up in your theological understanding, a bit like moving from black and white to 4K Ultra HD; from 2D to 3D; from chalk and slate to digital tablet; from the horse and cart to the electric vehicle.
So, I invite you to join me on the journey to explore some of Israel’s biblical landscapes, and thereby enjoy a greater appreciation of the biblical text, whose cultural origin is far removed from our own in time and place.
Jesus Christ wins!
The War That Will End War reflected a passionate but idealistic conviction that WW1 would be the war to end all war. After all, the world was war-weary, for humanity had used war as a master institution for 5000 years as the tool for spiritual salvation and the hope of regeneration.
Moreover, WWI was not history's final war, but only the segue to WW2, an even more devastating event. Some 100 million people died in these two world wars alone. And, since then, almost another 100 million have perished in war, making the 20th century the most deadliest of all for mankind.
So, is war going to end any time soon? Can we still enjoy spiritual salvation and the hope of regeneration? The answer to the first question is 'N0'. The answer to the second is 'Yes'. How do I know? 'Revelation', the last book of the Bible provides the answers, which is why I wrote this ebook, that ‘Jesus Christ wins. His wars end all war’. Revelation, the ‘war’ book of the New Testament, is a riveting read, and a roller coaster ride, so, why don’t we fasten our seat belts and enjoy the journey?
Footprints of the invisible
Footprints of the invisible is a challenge to those who assert that the visual realm in which we live, and absorbed by, is all that there is. To them, there is no unseen world, no spiritual realm or agency exists. The visualists want to see and touch the tangible, for nothing else exists.
But they don't really believe that, do they? For there are many things that they believe exist yet they can’t see, like air, wind, electricity, gravity, X-rays, microwaves, gamma rays, ultraviolet rays, infrared rays, and radio waves, some gases like nitrogen, oxygen, ultrasound and infrasound, electrons, protons, and neutrinos, cosmic radiation, and consciousness, thoughts, feelings, and so on.
But, how do we know that these invisible things exist? Because they leave evidence. It’s cause and effect. Flick the switch and the electric light comes on. The wind blows and we see things moving. We fall because of gravity; we breathe and live because there is oxygen. The invisible leaves a footprint. Exactly!
Similarly, with the spiritual realm - it leaves a footprint, so why don't you take go take a look inside Footprints of the invisible?
